Understanding More About the Music and the Artist Yogi...

“I wrote the song “Fly” for my former band mate and friend, Wes Wehmiller, who passed away last year (2005). His musical and non-musical contributions to the world had ranged from bass playing, photography, ice hockey, writing to bicycle racing. Every avocation he took on, he excelled in. Losing such a talented and pure spirit was difficult, but when the realization that his energy had transcended the physical body and continues to influence and permeate my life as well as many others, it was easier to accept and take pride in the loss. Much meditation and/or prayer makes a world of difference. “Fly” is about the loss of life and the understanding of the unceasing spirit. We all will go through it, there’s no escaping it. The sooner we become accepting of this, the more we can generate love and compassion for the dying and of course, for the living. When our time arrives, we must be unafraid and pass peacefully.” ~ Yogi

Fly

I walk the streets all by myself, but I never feel alone
A windstorm of faces swarmin’ ‘round my head

All I see is you

You fly high, before I could say goodbye
You fly high; don’t be afraid I’m still by your side

My better half’s flown out the door
I fear that I’ve been left behind
And I don’t know how you bring out love in me
Buried memories at sea

All the pain is gone, we knew it all along
We’ll be together in love and song

I fall asleep all by myself, still I never feel alone
I then I wake up before the winter dawn
I can’t believe you’re really gone
